Dear HGCEA Members,
I am delighted to write to you on our new website redesigned by Emily Pugh. The format has been created to facilitate easier access to information and to offer improved visual images. The content, however, still benefits greatly from your contributions. I urge everyone to keep sending member news as well as information on exhibitions and symposiums, and to include hyperlinks and images where appropriate. As I mentioned in my last letter, the Board will be considering options for including more reviews and, if we decide to proceed with this, will be soliciting coordinating editors. Also, I continue to encourage members to use the HGCEA listserv as a forum for research queries and exchanges of information. Feel free to send information to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. where it will be distributed to the membership. For more information about the listserv, including how to join, contact Emily Pugh at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. .
I hope to see everyone at our events in February at the CAA conference in Los Angeles. The Emerging Scholars session, chaired by Timothy Benson, will be held on Thursday, 12:30-2:00, followed by the regular session, “Picturing Urban Space in Central Europe Since 1839.” chaired by Miriam Paeslack, at 2:30. For further information, including speakers’ names and paper titles, visit the "HGCEA @ CAA" section of this site. The Board has decided to hold a dinner party, instead of a reception, for all members that evening. We will let you know when the details are finalized, but the venue will be within walking distance of the hotels. The Board will be meeting on Friday, February 24. Please email me any agenda items or concerns that you would like discussed at this time: This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. . The minutes of the meeting will be posted on the website.
I wish all of you a productive autumn and look forward to seeing you in February.
Best,
Marsha Morton
